(Above photo credit: AL.com via Norris Funeral Home) From AL.com: The Baldwin County Sheriff's Office is offering a $5,000 reward for any information on the death a man shot in the head in Baldwin County in 2016. The BCSO needs help finding the person or persons responsible for the death of 74-year-old Joseph Elmer "Buddy" Broughton. Broughton was found dead in his home at 9991 County Road 138 in Bay Minette on October 7, 2016. The BCSO said Broughton was the longtime owner of Broughtons' Gas Station and Convenience store at 9333 Hurricane Road in the Crossroads Community in Bay Minette. The BCSO has reported the homicide occurred around 8:40 p.m. on October 7. The initial 911 call was placed by Broughton's wife. She told deputies that she found Broughton unconscious and called authorities. When medical units arrived on the scene they pronounced Broughton deceased. They discovered he had died from apparent gunshot wound to the head. Anyone with any information that can lead to the arrest and conviction in Broughton's case will be eligible for the $5000 reward.
