Sal Guardado is wanted for the murder of his girlfriend Sally Garrity and the attempted murder of Sally's aunt Lydia. Although he was profiled multiple times on Unsolved Mysteries, I'm not sure if he was ever profiled on AMW.
Sally met Guardado at a local tavern and thought she had met Mr. Right. Guardado worked part time at a pizza parlor and eventually proposed to Sally shortly after meeting her family. But not long after, he lost both his job and his car, and the couple was forced to move in with Sally's aunt Lydia. During that time, Sal did nothing but watch TV and go bowling. He also became very abusive towards Sally and her family. Sally indicated that she wished to break up with him.
In May 1985, Guardado saw Sally getting out of a car driven by another male. Although he was just a friend who gave her a ride home, Guardado was enraged and started another argument between the two. Lydia walked in on the argument and quickly left. When she returned home, Guardado attempted to strangle her and beat her with his bowling ball after she resisted. When she regained consciousness, she stumbled upon Sally's dead body; she had been strangled to death. During the investigation, the family found out Guardado had a long criminal record, and had served five years in prison for arson and the attempted murder of another girlfriend. Despite a long search of the San Francisco area, there was no sign of Guardado until three months later, when a person witnessed him at a fast food restaurant.
What do you guys think? While investigators believe he may be in Mexico, I believe he's alternating between the U.S. and Mexico. The alleged sighting seems to support that theory. They also indicate he might have fled to either Hawaii or Miami, or even possibly Puerto Rico. He'd be in his early 60's today, so it's a wild guess as to what he's doing today.
