On October 18, 2003, Esperanza Cruz-Torres and her two passengers were driving when they made a left turn and drove in front of Michael Neuenfeld. Michael who was on his motorcycle, crashed into their car and landed on the nearby lawn, he died an hour later from his injuries. The three fled the accident scene and initially fled to Chicago to raise money to go to Mexico. However they voluntarily returned to Fond Du Lac County in Wisconsin to face the charges. The judge then allowed them to post bail thinking that because Esperanza was only in the US for two years that she wouldn't be able to afford it. However she did post the bail and fled.
Ironically, according to Newslibrary reports, if Esperanza and her two passengers had simply stayed at the accident scene, then they would have probably just been given a traffic citation. Now she's wanted for failing to appear on vehicular homicide charges.
Based on investigating agencies, it is advised to contact the local United States Marshals office at (414) 297-3707 if you have any information on Esperanza's whereabouts.

Thoughts? This is one of those cases where the fugitive made the situation a much more difficult one than it had to be. Regardless, Michael Neuenfeld is dead but Esperanza would have avoided most of the consequences if she had simply stayed at the accident scene. By now she may still be in Mexico if she fled there in the first place. If she doesn't return to the US and get caught north of the border, then hopefully Mexico could arrest her and try her on vehicular homicide charges in their country.
