Authorities in Atlanta are searching for the two murderers of William Hill. The case was aired on AMW five times from 1999 to 2004. On May 6, 1998, ATM courier William Hill went to a strip mall in Atlanta, Georgia to refill an ATM machine. Authorities say someone fired from the back of a Ford pickup truck with a camper shell at Hill with an AR-14 or hunting-type rifle. Hill died instantly from a shot to the head. A second individual, described as a white male, in his 40's to early 50's, appeared and told witnesses to call 911, then collected up to $70,000 from bags containing money. He then drove off in the pickup truck. Minutes later, authorities found the truck engulfed in flames. It was later revealed that the truck had been stolen in January. It is believed that the two men may have committed similar robberies in 1989 and 1992. The 1992 robbery occurred in the Atlanta suburb of Chamblee, luckily no one was killed in that case. Thoughts? It appears to me that the way Hill was killed make it look like a military style sniper kill. I have a feeling that at least one of the two killers served in the military, possibly even both of them serving together several years before the 1998 murder. Investigators were stumped by the one killer only taking $70,000 when he could have taken much more in Hill's vehicle. To me, the killers knew that authorities would be on the scene very quickly and took only what they felt they could get. I pretty much agree with your theories. It seems obvious this guy was targeted and this wasn't a random crime of opportunity.

I pretty much agree with your theories. It seems obvious this guy was targeted and this wasn't a random crime of opportunity. Someone knew that he will be there at that moment and also I do remember that on amw.com it was written that the killer used a high powered assault rifle and that later the pick up used by the killers was found burnt a few blocks from the murder scene. So definitely a cold blooded murder.

Here is the archived AMW post on the case.
This was from the 1/17/2004 airing (the most recent one).
I did know that the Atlanta PD and FBI suspected that there were other robberies that may have been committed by the same men (in one of those robberies, the getaway vehicle was also found burned beyond recognition). These robberies were committed on August 17, 1989, and February 27, 1992.
Additionally, it is noted, "Agents do not want viewers to focus as much on the composite as much as the facts of the case." I take this to mean the witness(es) only had a glimpse of Suspect #1 for a few seconds, or the FBI suspects that his appearance has drastically changed.

News headline on the 1992 robbery:
On February 27, 1992, a Wells Fargo armored delivery truck was attacked in a “military style operation” in Chamblee, Georgia, by several men using a smoke grenade and a Barrett 50 caliber sniper rifle. Two employees were wounded. (“Two Armored Truck Guards Shot,” The Atlanta Journal Constitution, February 27, 1992).
The men in that holdup also used shotguns and hit both guards (wounding one critically).

AI Witness Report did another great job of showing what the suspect likely looked like in real life. Attachments:

Spooky how realistic that looks It is very realistic. I am wondering if the man depicted was someone who didn’t reside in Georgia, but was very familiar with the area. He had wasn’t concerned about wearing a mask, and if he did, that would lead me to suspect the suspect was local.
