(Above photo credit: Kansas City, Missouri government website- Police Department section) From the Kansas City, MO government website- P.D. section- unsolved cold case homicides page: Case Report Number: 90-053018The 30-year-old victim was last seen the night of April 14, 1990, or the morning of April 15, 1990. Her body was discovered about 1 p.m. April 19, 1990, north of 4220 N.E. Birmingham Rd. on old 210 Highway. It was off a closed road in a remote area near woods. Ms. Baker was known to frequent several bars in the North Kansas City area: Helen’s on 210 Highway, Marcy’s on Vivion Road and the Depot in Avondale, Missouri. She was last seen at one of these bars prior to her disappearance. While they don’t know for sure, police think the victim might have encountered the suspect at one of the bars. The suspect then murdered her and dumped her body at the location where she was discovered. It seems like in these types of cases, the perpetrator meets the victim at a local bar, then murders the victim in another location. I agree with local law enforcement as to how Katherine met her killer. The question is, was this a sexually-motivated murder, a robbery of some sort? We even don't know from the description if law enforcement even knows what the method of murder was.
