On the afternoon of Saturday, June 7, 2003, twenty-one year old Ivan Beaza-Garcia had just finished getting his hair cut at a local barber shop. Upon exiting the barber shop, which is located within the Far East Side Asian Center near the intersection of West Alameda Avenue and Federal Blvd., Mr. Beaza-Garcia became involved in a verbal altercation with an individual later identified as Juan Carballo Jr. (described and pictured above). As the argument escalated, suspect Carballo Jr. armed himself with a handgun and shot Mr. Beaza-Garcia to death. After the shooting, suspect Juan Carballo Jr., who is also known by the moniker of “Bananas” fled the area last seen in a sport utility vehicle. Currently, a warrant for Juan Carballo Jr.’s arrest has been issued for Investigation of First Degree Murder. Anyone having additional information on this case or knowledge of the current whereabouts of Juan Carballo Jr. is asked to call Crime Stoppers at the below listed number.
