State and federal authorities are on the hunt for James Walker Morales, an escaped inmate considered unsafe to the public.
Authorities said James Morales, the suspect in the theft of weapons from the U.S. Army Reserve armory in Worcester, stole a auto from an Attleboro parking lot Sunday morning after escaping from a federal prison.
Morales was in custody for theft of weapons from a federal armory in Worcester, Mass., in 2015.
A K-9 unit picked up Morales's track in an area of Attleboro which lead troopers to the Route 95 overpass near the Rhode Island line.
An inmate with a long criminal history escaped from a Rhode Island prison and may have fled to MA, according to law enforcement.
Escaped inmate James Walker Morales has an eagle tattoo on the left side of his neck, according to Massachusetts State Police. He was last accounted for around 7:30 p.m. Police believe Morales injured himself while climbing over a razor wire fence during his escape. At that location, police found what appeared to be discarded prison clothing with blood on it.
State Police also believe Morales stole a vehicle from a Burger King parking lot Sunday morning.
Morales is 6 feet and 175 pounds.
The vehicle is a green Chevy Lumina with Rhode Island license plate number 408696. The African-American has brown eyes and black hair. He most likely has laceration injuries sustained during his escape.
Authorities urge anyone who spots the suspect to call 911, and those with information are asked to call U.S. Marshals at 508-368-7300.

Thoughts? It's our first breaking news case of the year right away (Morales technically escaped on New Year's Eve, hence the 2016/2017 in the thread title). According to other articles, Morales also faces unrelated child rape charges: www.fox25boston.com/news/former-army-reservist-escapes-from-rhode-island-prison/480335701
