William Hughes was stationed at the Kirkland Air Force Base in New Mexico, and was employed as a captain. In 1983 however, he deserted for the US military and became a fugitive. Intelligence officials in 1986 believe that he either defected to Soviet Russia's military or was captured by the Soviets. There was also a possible link between Hughes's disappearance and the sabotage of US and French rockets around the same time.

Thoughts? A different case from what I normally profile, but William Hughes is still a very dangerous fugitive and still a national security threat. If he did flee to Russia and is still there then he probably will never be caught and extradited unfortunately.
