The Pine Ridge reservation has had it rough over the decades, even former controversial Top Tenner Leonard Peltier was accused of murdering 2 agents on that reservation back in 1975. But anyways, I do think it may have been a revenge killing and I'm gonna say Thomas Brewer though not condoning his actions, this case is actually very controversial to me. I think the victim Brewer and the fugitive Brewer were family and of course given Native American history they are going to feel like nobody is going to help them and instead decide to take matters into their own hands which is wrong in this case. I don't know if that was too much or if I was off point there.... my apologies.

It's hard to call a case where we don't know the details controversial. It could turn out the murder of Vinny Brewer was a complete coincidence. I'm just speculating/wondering because of the last name and then a suspect with the same last name is accused of a murder on the same reservation a month later.

The lack of details on some of these FBI cases does sorta bug me, if only they did at least a 5 minute reenactment of the crime and giving more details it would surely help a lot.

The lack of details is frustrating when it comes to trying to discuss these cases. Sometimes those details are withheld intentionally and with good reasons though.

It turns out the murder of Vinny Brewer may be a coincidence (or if Thomas and Vinny were related the two incidents have nothing to do with each other) at least based on news articles coming out that finally have descriptions of the case. But still kind of a weird case with a seeming lack of motive. Here's an excerpt from one: "Thomas Joseph Brewer, 26, will face a second-degree murder charge in the death of Shawn Stevens around 12:15 a.m. Brewer disappeared soon after the incident, authorities said. Stevens and his wife were in their trailer at Pine Ridge’s East Ridge Housing when they saw an SUV spinning in circles in a nearby intersection, according to an FBI report filed in U.S. District Court. The couple were worried the SUV might hit their parked vehicle, so Stevens and another man went to speak with the SUV’s occupants. The SUV was being driven by Brewer, who, during the conversation, displayed a dark-colored handgun, the report said. Brewer then drove home, parked the SUV and walked back toward Stevens’ home with his three male passengers, authorities said. “Stevens was in the middle of the roadway intersection talking to Brewer and the other three males,” the report said. “Brewer raised his right hand with a gun in it and fired a single shot, striking Stevens in his abdomen.” Stevens was airlifted to Rapid City Regional Hospital, where he died on the operating table." rapidcityjournal.com/news/local/suspect-in-pine-ridge-fatal-shooting-on-fbi-most-wanted/article_27c93bc3-f902-54b9-8ed9-962a4b1c91e7.html

I also want to stress we were trying to figure out possible motives before the name of the victim was finally revealed. So I want to stress at this point Shawn Stevens appears to be a completely innocent victim and the motive as to why Brewer would want to kill him seems completely unknown or unrevealed. Only that for whatever reason, Brewer produced a handgun and allegedly shot Stevens after their conversation.
We were only speculating when the victim was unidentified.
