According to archived news reports, in 1971, Lawrence Calvin Pierce murdered a bar owner in Salem County, New Jersey. For that crime, he was one of the original most wanted fugitives added to New Jersey's statewide wanted fugitive list in 1979. Thoughts? It's quite interesting to think as to why Lawrence Pierce has been a fugitive for 45 years when he doesn't seem very difficult to find. One possibly important detail is that he may have been dressing in female attire which is the only disguise I can think of where no one would recognize him.
