From ABC Houston:
ROSENBERG, TX (KTRK) --
Police are searching for a sex offender who is now a person of interest in the murder and arson investigation involving the death of a 32-year-old woman earlier this month.
Nancy Dean was found dead inside of her Rosenberg home after it caught fire on September 3. At the time, police called the fire suspicious.
The Rosenberg Police Department says they're looking for Valentine Gonzalez Jr., 51, a convicted felon and sex offender who's required to register for life. Gonzalez, police say, failed to comply with the sex offender requirements and has absconded.
In 1989, Valentine Gonzalez Jr. was convicted of aggravated sexual assault in Nueces County, where he was sentenced to 27 years in prison.
Gonzalez's last known location was along the I-35 corridor in the New Braunfels area.
A warrant is out for Gonzalez's arrest for failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements.
Call the Rosenberg Police Department at 832-595-3700 if you have information in this case.

Thoughts? According to other reports, Gonzalez lived right around the block from Nancy Dean. It is important to note that at the moment, he is only wanted for questioning. It is possible he has nothing to do with Nancy Dean's murder, and his living near her is purely coincidental. However, A) Police won't know for sure if he's pertinent to their case until they talk to him and him fleeing doesn't help matters. and B) He definitely did fail to comply with sex offender requirements. He is definitely wanted for that at least and there is no dispute as to that aspect.
