(Above photo credit: Illinois State Police website) From the AMW archives (2003): Police in Streator, IL are searching for the killer of seven-year-old Dalton Mesarchik. On March 26, 2003 Dalton was waiting for a church van to pick him up outside his home. When the van never showed up, Dalton's mother went looking for him and discovered he had disappeared. A frantic search began and an Amber Alert was issued immediately. The next day Dalton's body was discovered in the Vermillion river just seven miles from his home by a local fisherman. Police say he was murdered and they have no suspects. web.archive.org/web/20040613030907/http://www2.amw.com/site/thisweek/M/MesarchikDaltonKiller/mesarchikkillerindex.htmlAdditional information and pertinent photos from Illinois State Police website: www.isp.state.il.us/crime/unsolveddetails.cfm?ID=47Thoughts? Dalton's case was aired on the April 5th, 2003 episode of America's Most Wanted. Unfortunately all indications are his murder is still unsolved. The Illinois State Police website has vital clues and photos so please check that link above out. I still vividly remember this case. It was in the news all over the place when it happened. Unfortunately, the one AMW episode where Dalton's case aired I missed. (We'd gone out to dinner with some family friends and I thought I'd set the VCR up to record the episode. Nope. Turns out I didn't) I really wish it had gotten more coverage, especially from AMW.

Oh ok well glad to see based on that locally there was media coverage, but Dalton's case unfortunately imo seems to have been forgotten outside of Illinois.

And even then, I don't recall seeing a story about it in years.

Interestingly, it was added just after the 20th anniversary. It must be part of a new push to solve it.

Hopefully, new technology helps. I know they do have a murder weapon (a hammer) that they’ve found.
