Town Still Determined To Find Unknown Killer
It has been more than two decades since the murder of Carole Kresik, but the pain is still fresh for residents of East Pittsburgh, who are committed to finding her killer and coming to terms with her death once and for all.
On Dec. 6, 1986, Kresik was found dead on the second floor of her townhome -- beaten, strangled and sexually assaulted. Her ankles and hands were tied, a stocking was stuffed in her mouth, and a rug was thrown over her head.
Kresik, who was out with friends the night before and returned home at 2 a.m., was last seen near her car at 2:45 a.m. the night of her death.
At around 4 a.m., a neighbor who heard screams from Kresik's home alerted 911. Upon arrival, police heard noises inside the apartment and kicked down the door, discovering the horrific scene. The killer, believed to have escaped through a dining room window, is still on the loose and police have little evidence about his identity.
Now, East Pittsburgh authorities are as determined as ever to find justice for Kresik's murder.
