Authorities in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada say that John David Coon is a serial child predator. While practicing Family Law at his office, he was charged with the sexual assault of the four-year old daughter of one of his clients. This came after John's license was temporarily suspended under allegations that he had sex with a female client of his while in his office two years earlier. To make matters worse, John had been convicted in 1991 of sexually assaulting a 12-year old girl. He was given a "conditional discharge" and 15-months probation for the crime, meaning that if he followed his court-ordered conditions and stayed out of trouble, there would be no criminal record of the heinous offense.
Ottawa Police believe that John fled to Cambodia or Thailand.

Thoughts? I am extremely annoyed that someone who had committed one of the worst types of crimes imaginable was still able to practice family law for several years. I am all for rehabilitation for most crimes, but child sex crimes generally do not fall under what can be rehabilitated. Who knows how many more children John David Coon has been able to victimize in Southeastern Asia.
