From the Los Angeles Daily News website:
NORTH HOLLYWOOD >> Three buddies, a late movie and some tacos. It was supposed to be a mellow Saturday night, but it ended at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center with a dead 18-year-old.
On Oct. 17, 2010, Vartan Avatyan was killed at the El Michoacano taco stand on Lankershim Boulevard in North Hollywood. While he, his cousin and a friend were unwrapping their food, a man walked up and started shooting. The three ran, but Avatyan was hit twice in the back, according to the coroner's report.
"I heard a yell. I knew it was my cousin," said Artur Akopyan, 24, who ran in a different direction.
Police offered a $50,000 reward to find the killer, described as an 18- to 22-year-old Latino. But nobody has provided usable information, said North Hollywood Detective Richard Wheeler of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Avatyan had no gang ties or criminal record, police and family members say. A recent graduate of Grant High School, he was working as a bag boy at Cambridge Farms in Valley Village.

Thoughts? The reason I'm placing Vartan Avatyan's case in the unsolved on tv section is because I found a case listing for it on America's Most Wanted's archived websiite. (I am assuming this was a web-exclusive story.) Unfortunately the actual archive link describing the case can no longer works but I am glad to see local newspapers at least haven't forgotten Vartan's case.
