Cesar Lucero (aka Edwardo Sanchez, pictured left), Alejandro Romero (aka Pedro Rojas, pictured middle), and Angel Salgado (aka Anselmo Sanchez), are all wanted by the NYPD for the attempted murder of a rival gang member and the murder of a 10-year old girl during a 2002 shooting. They were aired on AMW three times between 2003-2005. They were on the NYPD Crimestoppers page until sometime in 2012 when the website deleted most of the fugitive cases (now only Andre Neverson remains)
The fugitives were members of a NYC gang known as the St. James Boys. Operating out of the borough of the Bronx, the group was responsible for assaults, robberies and other crimes against Mexicans and Mexican-American residents. The gang's goal was to be the most feared Mexican gang in the area and mainly spent their time tormenting other Mexicans. On Aug 17, 2002, members of the gang crashed a christening party and got into an altercation with Javier Tochimani and his group. The fight spilled outside and Cesar Lucero fired shots into Javier, Alejandro Romero then proceeded to fire shots all over the place, one of them striking a 10-year old Malenny Mendez in the head, killing her. Malenny had left with an 18-year old friend and the friend's parents when the fight broke out. Javier ended up paralyzed.
While it was believed that Lucero, Romero and Salgado had fled to Mexico, another gang member, Edgar Morales was tried under a terrorism charge. The argument was that Morales's gang was bent on terrorizing people and would be the first street gang member to be tried as such. In 2012, Edgar Morales got a new trial when his terrorism charge was dropped. However, the three remaining fugitives have never been captured.
Thoughts? I presume the remaining three fugitives are still in Mexico (one of the articles I list below actually mention a total of eight gang members who were as of in 2006 wanted on various crimes), most likely split up shortly after the murder. I'm assuming that because the three aren't listed in any of the articles that bring up Edgar Morales, the NYPD doesn't have very many (if any) recent leads on them. It is disappointing that AMW didn't re-air this case after Morales was brought up on the terrorism charges.
