In 2008, Jeanette Neill and Roy Valpey were parked in a construction zone on Idaho's Interstate 84. Suddenly they were rear-ended by a semi-truck being driven by Gregory Vincent Roberts. Jeanette and Roy were killed as a result of the impact. Gregory himself was injured in the crash and had to have the vertebrae in his neck fused. Gregory pled guilty in 2009 and faced 90 days in jail along with four years probation. He was allowed to return to his home in Weleetka, Oklahoma but never showed up for his sentencing.

Thoughts? I feel this is a highly underrated fugitive case since two people were killed as a result of Gregory's careless actions. I don't know how long he had been working as a truck driver, but he should have had the experience and responsibility to not drive over the speed limit in a construction zone of all places. A sentence of 90 days imprisonment and four years probation is honestly not very much of a punishment, but as John Walsh has said, majority of crimes are plea bargained. It makes me wonder why Gregory even went on the run in the first place, since fleeing as a fugitive is going to likely be an additional charge when he gets caught.
