From Pennlive.com:
New DNA analysis is narrowing the range of suspects in the 2009 shooting death of two women in Huntingdon County.
Beatrice Daniels, 31, and her niece Christine McWhorter, 22, were found shot to death overnight Jan. 2, 2009, in the Chestnut Terrace apartment complex in Mount Union.
They were shot in the head while lying in bed, with McWhorter's two children ages 4 months and 4 years lying between them, and there was no sign of struggle, according to a report in the Altoona Mirror. McWhorter's 4-year-old son alerted a neighbor to the murders, said the report.
State police say the bodies of McWhorter and Daniels were found at McWhorter's apartment on Jan. 3.
Using new DNA technology, state police Wednesday released a description of a person of interest: a medium-to-light-skinned African-American man with green or hazel eyes and zero to a few freckles.
Anyone with information is asked to call state police at Huntingdon at 814-627-3161 or PA Crime Stoppers at 1-800-472-8477.
In a 2013 report on the unsolved murders on Central PA.com, Christine's mother, Chandra McWhorter, said her daughter had moved to Huntingdon County to get away from the violence in Philadelphia. She was studying business in college.
A state police investigator said in 2013 that there could be connection between the murders and the Philadelphia drug trade.
In November 2009, 11 people were arrested on drug charges at the same Chestnut Terrace apartment complex in Mount Union, a result that police said grew out of the investigation into the double murder in January.
