(Above photo credit: denvergov.org) Name: Jose Hilario Zambrano Alias: Manuel Angano and Manuel Rico DOB: 11/08/1945 (Current Age: 70) Height: 5'10 Weight: 165 lbs (In 1980) Hair: Black Eyes: Brown --- On the late evening of April 8th, 1980, Jose Zambrano entered his residence, which was located near the intersection of E. 35th Avenue and Marion Street. Once inside, Jose Zambrano confronted his wife, Maria Zambrano, whom he had recently separated from. Jose Zambrano was armed with a handgun and threatened to kill his wife. Maria Zambrano initially attempted to escape and seek safety within the residence, but was unfortunately shot to death by her husband (pictured above). Currently, a warrant for Jose Zambrano’s arrest has been issued for Investigation of First Degree Murder. --- Thoughts? Jose Zambrano is one of the longest running fugitives out of Denver, Colorado and at 70-years old, he's probably still alive and able to face justice in Maria's murder. We know from the picture that Jose likes to play the guitar and perhaps he's still playing that instrument today. So let's catch Jose Zambrano and make him play the Prison blues. According to Denver government website wanted flyer, If you have information regarding the whereabouts of Jose Zambrano, then contact Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867)

Nice play on words. Zambrano has been on the run for way too long and if he's still alive and out there and he still needs to pay for his crimes. He didn't have to kill his wife. As he was chasing her, common sense didn't set him and tell him it was a bad idea. This guy is a temper tantrum away from another murder if he hasn't killed anyone else already.

The Denver government website seems to have pulled their cold case fugitive files offline, although I am assuming since I haven't read otherwise that Zambrano is still at large as of this update. (5/6/2018).

I found a very detailed article from 1999 on Newslibrary regarding the Jose Zambrano manhunt. Here are some key notes from that article.
1: As of 1999, authorities in Denver were waiting for Jose to cross into the United States before they were willing to arrest him. Law enforcement in Colorado for the most part were not getting federal authorities to arrest and extradite fugitive suspects in Mexico. Jose was just one of 20 Denver cases where this was a problem.
2: One day after Maria was murdered, Jose called Maria's family from Juarez, Mexico, claiming he didn't know what had happened to his wife.
3: Six months after Maria was murdered, a friend of Maria's family recalled seeing Jose working as a waiter in Juarez. That lead was not reported to Denver authorities since local investigators weren't willing to find Jose in Mexico.
That was 20 years ago. Today Jose Zambrano would be 73-years of age. It's still possible that he's alive but that percentage is getting lower each year. The question is, how long did Jose reside in Juarez as a fugitive. Did he eventually travel to another part of Mexico or even back to the United States? Or is he still across the border from El Paso, Texas, allegedly getting away with murder.
