Last year the North Carolina Department of Public Safety released to the media a list of the 12 most wanted cold case prison escapees in the state. Linda Williams is the only female on that list. Unlike others, I was able to find some additional information: Williams had apparently robbed a convenience store at gunpoint in August of 1977 before being convicted later in December. Her lawyer had said Williams had planned to appeal her sentence, but apparently she chose to escape insead: news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1454&dat=19771202&id=_7ksAAAAIBAJ&sjid=IBMEAAAAIBAJ&pg=1852,517830&hl=en Admin Note #1: According to online articles, Anyone with information on Williams' whereabouts is asked to contact the North Carolina Department of Public Safety at (919) 838-3572.

Wonderful that threads for all 12 of these escapees are now up. Hopefully some of them can finally get captured. They have all been on the run for too many years.

Wanted to also add that it would be a good idea for other states to follow suit with the publicity methods by North Carolina authorities. Every state with a semi-large or large population probably has many violent escapee fugitives that have been on the run for years and their cases may be forgotten about if they aren't publicized again.
