(Above photo credit: New Jersey State Police website) Fugitive profile statistics as of August 5, 2014 (based on New Jersey State Police Wanted Poster): AKA: John Earven Schlump, Jack Schlump, John Earvin Schlump, Jack E. Schlump DOB: 12/30/50 Height: 5'10" Weight: 190 lbs. Hair: Brown Eyes: Blue Complexion: Light Race: White POB: New Jersey Scars, Marks and Tattoos: 4 inch left shoulder. Who to call if you've seen him: New Jersey State Police Fugitive Unit: 1-800-437-7839
John Jack Schlump is- or potentially even was a fugitive- that I was hesitant to post about on this forum. But there is still such mystery surrounding him and whether or not he's even still on the run I figured I'd post about him, because I am really curious as to if there was ever resolution in this case. On Dec. 2, 2005, Schlump, now 59, booby-trapped his log cabin with gasoline, firewood, fuses and flares, New Jersey State Police say. When his wife, Patricia Barnes, arrived home, he allegedly beat her and tied her up with duct tape and nylon cord. Schlump never showed up for his court date in relation to the charges. His AMW re-enactment was a 2-parter and a bit on the memorable side. In it, he was depicted not only cruel to his wife and son, but killed a dog and chased men on speed bikes. On the old AMW.com forums, there was a bit of controversy when his daughter started posting, claiming parts of the story were inaccurate. She also stated this in newspaper articles as well. There were aspects in the original re-enactment and website never mentioned again, such as claims he tried to murder his ex-wife in a fire 1989. Even Schlump's ex-wife says that isn't true. AMW for their part said they rely on info given to them by the local police departments of the wanted fugitive. (I know I'm biased since this is my favorite show, but I will always defend them and say they are truthful and if they have bad info it's not because of malicious intent but what they were given to work on). Last year, John Schlump mysteriously disappeared from AMW.com's website. This was a time when AMW was removing indirect captures- but would not remove old still-on-the-run fugitives until months later. Leading many of us to wonder what happened- if Schlump was captured, or perhaps if even the charges were dropped. Or is he even still alive? And a reminder, in this thread I'm asking if we have any thoughts as to whereabouts, and not necessarily about his alleged crimes. I know I'm taking a risk posting about him without a *bleep* storm, but a reminder that John Schlump, if he's still wanted, is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. I'm just really baffled as to the mystery surrounding his fugitive status. www.jasonnark.com/2010/10/in-pines.htmlarticles.philly.com/2010-10-16/news/24981452_1_log-cabin-law-enforcement-jersey-devilEdit: A New Jersey court has declared John Schlump deceased. However, it seems to be for financial reasons and he is still considered a fugitive by state police. For some reason I suspect he's dead, even though he's not wanted for the most heinous charges, he would have shown up by now if he was still alive. The fact that content from both the reenactment and website were dropped after his first profile makes me feel that there is some merit to his daughter's claims. I suspect the reason he got another two-part profile on Lifetime had to do with the previous episode only featuring minorities (mainly gang/street offenders), the next episode with Schlump mainly featured whites and offenders charged with violent crimes against women and children.

I always thought there was some merit to her claims- just that her beef should have been with whatever sources gave them the bad information (whether it be the local police department, or other sources) as opposed to AMW.

So I went digging and found what appears to be a court decision declaring John Schlump a.k.a. John E. Schlump deceased.
When doing a google search for "John E Schlump" deceased, go to the second page and there is a link to a PDF file from the Cape May, New Jersey Herald Times, which is where the county in NJ where Schlump was wanted out of.
IN THE MATTER OF JOHN E. SCHLUMP SUPERIOR COURT OF NEW JERSEY CHANCERY DIVISION, PROBATE PART CAPE MAY COUNTY DOCKET NUMBER: CPMP- 48-12 CIVIL ACTION ORDER TO SHOW CAUSE THIS MATTER having been opened to the Court by the Verifi ed Complaint filed by Archer & Greiner, A Professional Corporation, attorneys for the Plaintiff; and the Court having reviewed the Verifi ed Complaint fi led herein and good cause having been shown; IT lS on this 31st day of May, 20I2, ORDERED that the interested parties named in the Verified Complaint filed herein show cause in this Court on the 9th day of July, 2012, at 1:30 o’clock p.m., why judgment in this matter should not be entered as follows: A. Declaring John E. Schlump deceased in accordance with N.J.S.A. §3B:27-6(a) as of December 3, 2005.
And on the next page:
IN THE MATTER OF JOHN E. SCHLUMP THIS MATTER coming before the Court on June 6, 2012, before John C. Porto, J.S.C., on due notice provided to all parties, and Angela C. Titus McEwan, Esq., appearing, and the Court having considered the matters presented, and for good cause having been shown, and for the reasons stated on the record on this date:
IT IS on this 7th day of June, 2012 ORDERED that: 1. The May 31, 2012 Order is modifi ed to permit the sale of real property and improvements thereon located at 461 Country Way, East Greenwich Township, Gloucester County, New Jersey, including the interest of John E. Schlump in said property by his appointed Trustee, Jeffrey A. Schlump. Closing of this property has been scheduled for Friday, June 8, 2012. 2. The net proceeds of John E. Schlump’s interest in said property, which is 20% of approximately $135,163, is to be placed in an interest bearing escrow account with Trident Land Transfer Company LP, pending further order of this Court. 3. All other requested relief will be heard on July 9, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. Notice shall be provided to all interested parties
So New Jersey plus he is declared deceased one day after the alleged attack on his wife. I am not moving this thread to the captures section since A) I dont know if he was only declared for financial reasons and B) just in case anyone might want to disagree or sees any legal mumbo-jumbo that says otherwise (I posted what I felt to be the most important parts of the ruling but the full document is in the PDF link). But this to me, looks an official court declaration that John Schlump is considered deceased. And I don't see how this could not be him. This would also of course explain his removal from the AMW.COM website.

Even if he was declared dead, it doesn't necessarily mean that's the reason AMW removed him. Back in 1996, Carl Daub, a fugitive wanted for killing his wife back in the late 80's, was declared dead. It was mentioned it was strictly for financial and estate reasons, and that if he was found alive, he'd still be brought on charges. He was profiled again in 2000, and his body was found in 2003. The point is, even 4 years after being declared dead, AMW still profiled him. I'm not so sure why they're so sure Schlump's dead though.

Just one thing I'd like to point is AMW removed him at a time where they only were removing fugitives if they were indirect captures. It wasn't until after their season finale (and at the moment series finale) that they started removing people whether they were caught or not. As for why he may be thought of deceased, perhaps suicide? But thanks Ja and Czar for the answers. I posted this last night and got no responses all morning and was about to go "Not only do I pull this court decision out of butt and not get credit for finding it but no one comments as well you guys suck" but a las good points everyone. I'm leaving this here since we just don't know, however. Perhaps he was declared deceased simply just for financial reasons. This just adds to the mystery

I'm prerty sure he is still alive. He was afraid of dying and spoke to my mom about it. The man was an absolute nut case. There were many things left out of the show. The 30 cans of gas, windows boarded shut, 3 sets of zip ties..enough for the hands and feet of my mom brother and I. Hay bails stacked under the house and bamboo with flares attached to them to light them. Days before this my tire fell off my truck...someone had losen the lugs..didn't put much thought into it until this went down..any questions?

Hey Ron, I believe I've seen your posts before on news article comments and you are one of John Schlump's stepsons (I apologize if I got the relationship wrong) who disagreed with John's daughter. It's always interesting to get both sides and most importantly to get your side here. Only the daughter posted on AMW.COM's old forums (that I know of, I apologize if you did and I don't remember) She made a lot of claims when AMW.COM used to have a forum and although I sympathized with her feeling there were inaccuracies, right or wrong, I know it's a terrible situation to live with, the discussions seemed to get way too heated. (I only lurked back then and wasn't really involved). It's interesting that you actually feel there were things left out AGAINST your dad. While all fugitives are technically innocent until proven guilty (but not showing up in court does not make you look good), if your dad is still out there, he needs to face a jury, and let them decide on guilt or innocence. I guess I only have two questions. Did I get the right John Schlump, and was he declared deceased or is that just legal mumbo jumbo for financial reasons? Also, do you have any inkling as to why AMW.COM removed your dad's profile? Were there any legalities or were they not getting many leads or another reason? I hope everyone in your family on both sides finds out what happened to your stepfather (you and your stepsister), and there is closure here.

Ok 1st off...he was my step father. He beat my mother N planned on burning down our house. Yes he was declared dead. My mother and him had just went through a divorce. The judge had given him time to find a place to stay and in the meantime he lived with us. The weekend that this all went down Jack was suppose to report to the county jail to start severing weekends for being in possession of firearms by a covicted felon..."burning down his previous house". Back to him being declared dead...after the divorce he was granted half the price of the house..with him missing that money just sat there. After I believe 5 years in NJ a individual that is missing can be delclared dead and with that happening his brother got to collect the $$$

Thanks for the clarifications Ron. This is a horrible situation and I'm sorry for what your family has went through.
I hope we can find out what happened to your stepfather and/or where he is one day.
