Hello,
I am trying to find these cases that I watched as a child (in 00s) and I am curious to know if anyone here knows about it. It would be nice to see if there were any updates since then. I've been trying to google to no avail.
1st Case: The case was a murder of a young woman (mentioned she might have been a former or aspiring model) whose case gone cold, but was reopened. I think she may have been out to the bar or something, then returned home where she was attacked and stabbed multiple times. I remember crime scene photos were shown where blood was all over the walls and it seemed like she was struggling for some time. In particular, there was a photo that showed blood on a phone that hanging on the wall, which may have indicated that she tried to call someone for help. I was sure I found the case a few years ago when I was searching AMW, by searching "cold case reopened" however, they removed cases from the website and I'm curious to know what happened. This one is featured on 48 Hours as well I think, but I can't seem to find it.
2nd Case: A man attempted to rape or kill a woman who managed to escape by putting up a good fight. I remember the acting had a woman knocking down a shelf, then running outside naked where she kicked down a fence and hid near a garbage dump. I think her attacker followed her and passed by the dump, but did not find her. She waited until it's time to leave, then she ran to a nearby payphone and called 911 screaming that she had been attacked and that she was wearing a cardboard box. The woman was interviewed by AMW. I don't believe her attacker was caught at the time of the interview.
If anyone knows about these cases, that was great if I can get more information. I apologize for the lack of information as I can only remember part of the re dramatizations.

Not sure about the first case. It *might* be the unknown Jennifer Servo killer from the sounds of it but she was an aspiring newscaster and not a model. but the second sounds like it's probably Rufino Castaneda. If you recall the victim also kicking the guy in the privates and saying "so I knocked him right on his booty" or something to that effect its definitely her Castaneda was captured a few years later in Mexico. Although it was an indirect capture, AMW actually showed the trial and him getting convicted. We have a lot of AMW trivia whizzes here so if those names don't ring a bell to you and I have it wrong hopefully they can confirm who they are!

Not sure about the 1st one, but the second one is Rufino Casteneda. He was caught in 2007 in central Mexico and is serving 55 years

Wow, thanks! I'm glad to hear that Rufino Casteneda was caught!
For the first case, it's definitely not Jennifer Servo, as the case would be too recent. I think the murder would have happened in the 80s or 90s, as I watched the case in early-mid 00s where it was deemed a cold case.

Glad we could be of half-help so far, at least.

Yes, that's it! Thanks for the quick responses everyone. I'm sad that Julie's killer hasn't been found yet. It has haunted me for some time because it seemed like a crime of passion that could only be committed by someone who was close to her. Unfortunately, the trail has gone cold.

Hello. I also would like help with remembering a case, though the details are a bit fuzzy. I may have watched it on AMW I may have seen it somewhere else. Here is what I remember: a teen found dead outside his home in a driveway area. Inside two adults (mom and dad or her boyfriend?) were also found dead in recliners. May have been found by neighbors. Unfortunately, I don't remember if this was solved or unsolved or whether there were any suspects. I have had a sort of vague memory of seeing something like this for years now.

Hi rk,
Welcome to the forum.
Unfortunately, that case doesn't ring a bell to me. Hopefully others can help. If not, maybe it wasn't AMW but another show.

I can't figure out what that case might have been. Do you know around what time you may have seen it? The recliners sounds like a unique detail that would make the case stand out, but I can't figure out who that might be.

I, too, need help remembering a case. Here are the details:
*In the last few seconds before the father was shot dead, he was shown on AMW yelling, "wait wait wait Wait Wait WAAAIT!!!"" *After shooting the father dead, the killer asked the 6 year old son, "Where's the money?" *The 6 year old called police, but still hadn't learned his address, which made it harder for cops to recover him.

That doesn't sound familiar to me either. Hopefully someone else recalls it.

That's the Unknown Tony Jones Killer. He was shot and killed in front of his son in southern Illinois. AMW featured Tony's sister, Penelope, who was an aspiring rapper that had released a single dedicated to her brother.

Ok, someone on Reddit is asking about an AMW case now, so I figure I'd just add on to this thread and make this an unofficial asking thread about old segments:
"I saw this on TV when I was really young. I had nightmares about it for years, and still think about it from time to time, I'd love to know if it was ever solved, but I might not remember enough details for anyone to identify it.
It aired sometime between 1992 and 1997. The murderer pulled out a gun at an event (fair?) and shot a (random?) guy in the head. The show played the surveillance footage of it happening.
I doubt that this is enough info to jog anyone's memory, but hey, it's worth a shot if I could get closure on something that haunted me for so long."
Does anyone know? Doesn't ring a bell to me immediately. I thought it might be Dudley Forbes but apparently not.

Edit: Some additional details: murder was a white male with brown hair and possibly a mullet, and it happened on pavement. It seems not even I can get a reply so obviously this case is apparently unfortunately unknown. Anyone knows any case we can't figure out feel free to contact us.
