ABILENE, Texas -
Court documents reveal new information about the murder on Merchant Street and the accused killer wanted by Abilene police.
According to documents obtained by KTXS, Dewayne Welch told police he was in his room at 1 a.m. Sunday when he heard a gunshot in the living room.
Welch said he ran into the living room where murder suspect Manuel Garcia pointed a gun at him. Garcia shot Welch four times before he was able to take cover and get to a neighbor’s house to call 911, according to the documents.
When officers arrived, they found Ryan “Chucky” Roberts with a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Welch was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Police say his condition has since improved.
Court documents also show a warrant was issued Monday for Garcia’s arrest for first-degree felony murder. District Attorney James Eidson recommended his bond be set at $150,000.
Police said Garcia should be considered armed and extremely dangerous.

Thoughts? Not a lot of information has been released such as motive, but according to an article with Ryan's mother, that is being done intentionally. Ryan's mother states that he wasn't perfect, but didn't deserve to die the way he did. All I know is although there's a lack of details, what is known is that Manuel Garcia shot and killed one man by shooting him in the head, and attempted to kill another man by shooting him four times. And he's only 20 years old. Not even old enough to legally drink in his state yet and already wanted for a brutal homicide. That's a dangerous alleged fugitive right there.
Also, my other concern, even if Garcia is captured, I feel $150K is kind of a shockingly low bond, especially for a guy who didn't appear in court. If I were the prosecuting attorneys in this case, although I'm not sure if they can since they were the ones who asked for that low bond in the first place, I'd ask for an increase.
