Authorities have identified a fourth suspect in a shooting that left a Jefferson County sheriff's deputy injured in the leg.
Dejuan Reshad Dedrick, 25, was the one who most likely fired the shots that hit the deputy, police said. He fled the scene of a home on Dowell Avenue in southwest Birmingham. He remains at large.
An attempted murder warrant has been issued for his arrested Friday afternoon. Anyone who has information of his whereabouts should call the sheriff's office at 205-325-1450.
Three other suspects have been jailed. All three of them were charged with two counts of attempted murder for exchanging gunfire with two deputies behind the house.
In all, seven people were taken in for questioning after the Thursday evening shooting, said Chief Deputy Randy Christian. Those questioned were one adult female, five adult males and one male juvenile.
Court records don't show any prior criminal history for the Griggs. Gadson, however, was indicted three years ago in the 2012 shooting death of 22-year-old Forenzo Tyre Walker. That shooting happened about 1:17 a.m. at 1201 Bessemer Road.
Five people were shot during the birthday party, but Walker was the only one killed. A grand jury indicted Gadson, saying he fired his pistol into the crowd gathered outside the party at the club. Those charges were later dismissed.
Gadson was convicted in 2013 of disorderly conduct, and in 2011 of marijuana possession and carrying a pistol without a license.
The injured deputy came out of knee surgery in good condition Friday, Christian said.
"There will be a lengthy recovery but he is a tough guy, we expect him to be fine and we thank God for that," Christian said.
