From wlky.com:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. —Friends and family of a Louisville couple found shot to death on Hill Street Saturday morning remembered them and pleaded for help in solving the crime.
Police are still searching for a suspect in the shooting deaths of Aaron Combs and Julie Clemons.
Aaron Combs' family says they don't understand why anyone would want to hurt the couple.
"He was the type of person that would give you the shirt off his back. He'd give you $5 if he had it and it was his last. Whatever Aaron had and he could give you, he would," said Laura Combs.
One week ago, Laura Combs was celebrating her son's 30th birthday. Now she is looking for answers in his and his fiancée’s murder.
"They've been together through thick and thin. They were inseparable and were never apart. They did everything together," Laura Combs said.
Laura Combs said the couple moved into a home on West Hill Street a year ago.
Officers responded to the home around 4:15 a.m. Saturday after a report of shots fired.
Investigators found Aaron Combs and Clemons shot to death inside the home.
Those close to the family said it appears that Aaron Combs was shot at the front door and Clemons was killed in an upstairs closet.
Laura Combs said her son struggled with substance abuse problems in Clarksville Indiana, but was starting over.
"He had his ups and downs, but he was turning his life around. That's the whole reason he moved to Louisville, to get away from everything," Laura Combs said.
"He did not deserve this, and Julie didn't either. He was a good friend, a good son, a good brother," said Katia Hurst, a close family friend.
Laura Combs has a message for whoever took her son's life: "Do the right thing and turn yourself in. He didn't deserve to die."
Clemons' family did not want to speak at this time.
WLKY was told that the couple’s roommate was there that night, but was not hurt.
