 Name: Gerardo Cano Torres Height: 5'08" Weight: 170 DOB: 9/21/1970 Charge: Murder -- Authorities in Sumter, South Carolina say that Gerardo Torres shot two men in a home. 27-year old Pablo Hernandez tragically died from his injuries and Alberto Cruz survived a gunshot wound to the right bicep. Gerardo then fled in a pickup truck and was believed to have fled to Mexico after the shootings. -- Thoughts? Yesterday I started the 50 States/50 Cases trend with North Carolina so I wanted to continue with nearby South Carolina. As with yesterday's case, not that much information to work with such as a motive if investigators are aware of one. However, anyone wanted for murder and/or attempted murder needs to be profiled. According to the Sumter County Sheriff's Department website, Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Gerardo Cano Torres should contact them at 803-436-2002 or 803-436-2718.

Well since this is 50/50 themed, the AMW televised version often just showed fugitives for five seconds in the broadcast. So consider this thread a web version of 15 seconds of shame. |

As of April 23rd, 2018, Torres is still listed on the Sumter County Sheriff's Office website as one of their most wanted fugitives. (The website has a 2013 time stamp, which doesn't give me the utmost confidence, but since there's no been no articles stating otherwise, I feel there's enough here to reasonably assume that Torres is still wanted as of 4/24/2018).

As of today, May 6, 2020, the only case against Gerardo Torres in the Sumter County Court Records database was a 2009 "debt collection" case that was finished in 2010. Since there are no recorded criminal cases against Gerardo Torres, I can conclude that the 2007 murder case has not gone to court, meaning Gerardo is still at large. publicindex.sccourts.org/Sumter/PublicIndex/PISearch.aspx |
