Two years after the body of a 47-year-old was found stabbed to death in his Houma trailer, investigators have still not arrested the suspect.
Benito Camacho's body had allegedly been left in his trailer, 411 Triple Court, for four days, Houma Police said at the time.
His roommate, Marcos Roque Vera, believed to be between 30 and 35, was identified as a suspect shortly after the killing, but he was never found.
Camacho had planned on telling Vera to move out of the trailer due to Vera's drinking and lifestyle, authorities said, and the two allegedly got into an argument.
Houma Police Detective Tim Evans said Vera was supposedly spotted driving Camacho's pickup in Metairie not long after his killing, but he has not been seen since. Authorities said it's possible Vera left the United States, though he has been entered into a national database and will be immediately arrested if identified.
Houma Police have a flier for Vera on their website under the “Wanted” tab. However, Evans insists the case hasn't stalled.
“We just have to wait for the leads to come in. I've exhausted every lead that I had,” Evans said. “The next thing would be to apprehend the suspect and interrogate him, but we don't have any idea where he is.”
At the time, friends and coworkers had reported Camacho missing to the Terrebonne Sheriff's Office. Camacho, an employee at Preferred Sandblasting, a local oilfield service company, had not shown up to work, which owner Ben Deroche said was peculiar.
“He hadn't missed a day in two or three years and was not answering his cellphone,” Deroche said.
Deroche said he was the one who found Camacho's body. After returning from a vacation, Deroche said he was told Camacho was missing, so he went over to his trailer.
“I opened the door, and he was laying there right by the door,” Deroche said. “The whole place and smelled bad, so I turned around and called police.”
Camacho and Vera met through a local church, police said at the time. Deroche said he has never met Vera but heard there had been some problems between the pair. However, Camacho was usually in a good mood, Deroche said.
“He always had a really good disposition,” Deroche said, adding that Camacho was one of his best employees during the two years he worked at the company.
Camacho had family in Mission, Texas, at the time of his death, though they were not able to be reached. Anyone with information is asked to call Houma Police at (985) 873-6371 or (985) 873-6320.

Before I get to asking for thoughts/theories a few notes:
The above article is from five years so it's sadly now been seven years since Vera went on the run. Here is some additional information from the Houma P.D. Wanted poster:
Vera is a Hispanic male who is possibly between 30-35 years old. An exact date of birth is unavailable. Vera is believed to be traveling in the victim’s missing green and silver 1997 Ford F-150. It is a single cab with a chrome toolbox in the rear. The vehicle bears Texas license plate number 41SVY7, VIN 1FTDF1722VKB36221. The vehicle was last seen on May 14, 2009, in the parking lot of the Travel Inn Plaza, 5733 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA

I'm not sure if the car is still relevant but since Vera was around 30-35 at the time of the murder, I'd place him as 35-40 today.
As for my thoughts, obviously Latin America becomes an increasing possibility that longer Vera stays on the run. And I will never understand guys who commit murder or allegedly committed murder that attended church.
