This isn't exactly about the FBI's top-10 but this is related to the FBI so I figured I'd post it here. Robert Mueller is retiring in September. President Obama is apparently set to nominate James Comey as the new head of the FBI. Comey was #2 in President George W. Bush's justice department. He did not always get along with Bush however, refusing to reauthorize a warrantless wiretapping program. Bush revised the program when Comey and Mueller threatened to resign. The article also mentions Comey unsuccessfully tried to limit tough interrogation tactics against suspected terrorists, and a few more notes: "As an assistant U.S. attorney in Virginia, Comey handled the investigation of the 1996 bombing of the Khobar Towers housing complex near Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, that killed 19 U.S. military personnel. Comey led the Justice Department's corporate fraud task force and spurred the creation of violent crime impact teams in 20 cities, focusing on crimes committed with guns." I'm curious as to how this pick will affect the choosing of the FBI's top 10 list. We have no idea of course until he takes over. He did work hand-in-hand with Mueller so perhaps the line of thinking will be similar. I'm thinking with there currently being 498 additions to the list and two open slots, Mueller may want to add 499 and of course the big 500th to add to his legacy before he leaves but we shall see. Also with Comey having previously led corporate fraud task force, it has me thinking perhaps a significant change if any is better odds of white collar criminals being added to the list. www.businessweek.com/ap/2013-05-29/ap-sources-obama-preparing-to-name-comey-to-fbi

Also with Comey having previously led corporate fraud task force, it has me thinking perhaps a significant change if any is better odds of white collar criminals being added to the list. I would like to bring something up that may have confused some people, Semion Mogilveich despite being a white-collar criminal mobster, was actually featured in the Crime Alerts section on the FBI Wanted website. His two accomplices have since been moved to the Criminal Enterprise Investigations section of the website. So I agree with your line of thinking that we may finally see a true white-collar criminal added to the list. Which isn't a half-bad idea.

White collar criminals are underrated. Sure they didn't stab or shoot anyone but I'd say destroying someone's life savings and making them lose everything they ever worked for is scummy enough.

Comey was sworn in today. Between what's going on in Syria and the whole "spying" scandal, he comes in at a difficult and challenging time. But hopefully he does a good job and interestingly enough the next top 10 fugitive will be his pick. (or at least the first pick in his regime)
