On January 14, 2000 at 8:48 p.m., Jonah Bryant, was home watching TV like any other 15 year old young man. His mother, Brenda Bryant, and his sister went to the grocery store and their return home were approached by an unknown black male who tried to rob her. Jonah heard his mother being attacked on the front porch; he ran to his mother’s aid and told the robber to leave his mother alone. The robber turned the gun on Jonah and shot him which resulted in Jonah’s death. Jonah was 15 years old and a ninth grade student at Savannah High school. Jonah was active in the JROTC program and had dreams of one day joining the Army with the ultimate goal of becoming a law enforcement officer . SCMPD hopes that someone will come forward with information – even if you don’t think it’s important – it could be that one crucial bit of information that helps them solve the case.
The man responsible was described as a dark-skinned black male with an average build – approximately 5’7 to 5’9. He was wearing a checkerboard patterned jacket the night of the shooting, but had his face covered which has made it hard to identify him. A CASH reward of up to $13,500 is available for new information that leads to the arrest of the person(s) responsible for Jonah Bryant’s death.

Thoughts? This isn't going to be an easy case to solve since it's 16-years old and we don't even have a sketch of Jonah's killer. It is extremely tragic since Jonah was just trying to protect his mother and he looked like such a wonderful young man from the photo on the Savannah, Georgia Crimestoppers page. Jonah's family does need Final Justice though which is why despite the odds, we need to solve this case and get his killer off the streets.
Since this case has been listed on Savannah-Chatham Crime Stoppers, our advice for anyone with information on who killed Jonah Bryant would be to call them at 912-234-2020.
