(Above photo credits: FBI.Gov) From the FBI's website: The FBI and the White Mountain Apache Tribal Police are asking for the public's assistance in obtaining firsthand information in the murder of sixteen-year-old Katherine "Kat" Irene Tortice. Tortice's body was found in a shallow grave near a pond in McNary, Arizona, on December 12, 2006, after she had been missing for approximately a month. Anyone with firsthand information concerning the murder of Katherine Irene Tortice should contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI or the FBI Phoenix Office at (623) 466-1999.
You may also contact your local FBI office or the nearest American Embassy or Consulate. www.fbi.gov/wanted/seeking-info/katherine-irene-tortice/viewThoughts? Although there's not a lot of detail available online, Tortice's case is in the news again because the FBI is re-searching the pond she was found near for evidence: www.abc15.com/news/state/katherine-irene-tortice-update-fbi-to-search-pond-in-mcnary-arizona-for-murder-caseAdmin Note: If you have any news-related updates on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form

I checked on Google Maps and McNary, Arizona is a very rural community on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation. I've been in that Northeastern Arizona area for tourism (and it was a very wonderful area to visit and I highly recommend it to readers) and there are plenty of people who live in the middle of nowhere or in very small towns all over the place, so Katherine's killer could live in an isolated area and would be more difficult to be identified.

Last month, 37-year old Andre Veriell Hinton, Tortice's boyfriend, confessed in court to killing her after an argument. He plead guilty to involuntary manslaughter. Hinton will serve a maximum of eight years with at least three years supervision after release from prison. He will also possibly have to pay a maximum fine of $250,000 if imposed by the court, as well as restitution to the victim’s family. In this case, restitution of up to $500,000 would go to Tortice’s family. www.wmicentral.com/news/wm_apache_tribe/years-later-murder-case-ends-in-conviction-of-local-man/article_1be3a580-4c0c-581c-8c09-a89331deac13.htmlPersonally, I find this a ridiculously light sentence and only hope Kat's family has some peace in no longer not knowing who killed her.
