(Above photo credit: sandiego.gov) Synopsis: The victim, 15-year-old Dewan Emerson, was last seen alive by his mother on April 28, 1987, at 11:30 p.m. Dewan told his mother he was stepping outside for a few minutes to talk to a male who had come by the house. Dewan told his mother he knew the male and it would only be a few minutes. Dewan disappeared and never returned. The following morning, two employees of the San Diego Trolley discovered Dewan's body at the bottom of a drainage ditch on 5200 Naranja Street, a short distance from his home, partially concealed by an overhanging shrub. Dewan had been strangled and his body had been partially mutilated. An autopsy revealed Dewan's hands had been tied and he had been sexually assaulted. The male who came to Dewan's door has never been identified. -- Thoughts? This is a very underrated case since Dewan was a teenager who was both sexually assaulted and mutilated as well as being murdered. We know for sure that Dewan knew his killer somehow so hopefully investigators looked into where Dewan hung out at and who he associated with in 1987. I'm also certain Dewan was not this killer's only victim based on how Dewan was murdered so it's extremely important we figure out who Dewan's killer was. Based on online police websites, our advice for anyone with information on the identity of Dewan Emerson's killer would be to contact the San Diego (California) Police Department: www.sandiego.gov/police/contactModerator Note: If you have any news-related updates on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form www.sandiego.gov/police/services/units/coldcase/1990

My fear is whoever killed Dewan is a possible serial killer, which is especially scary since this is now almost 30 years later.

This is great news! I do hope Russell Taylor is fully investigated to any other similar unsolved crimes as well.
