Authorities in Philadelphia are seeking an unidentified man in connection with two rapes, one attempted and a sexual murder committed in the city in 2003 and 2007. The case was aired four times between 2005 and 2008. The 2003 attacks occurred in Fairmount Park. On Apr 30th a 21-year old woman was raped. On Jul 30th, authorities discovered the remains of 30-year old Rebecca Park who had been sexually murdered. On Oct 25th, another woman was attacked but she managed to escape. He resurfaced on Aug 11, 2007 and raped another woman in Philadelphia's Pennypack Park. The victims gave the description of the serial rapist as a 25-35 year old hispanic male. He spoke broken english and rode a dark or purple-coloured old-style 10-speed bicycle. He also had scars on his upper left arm, chest and shoulder, possibly from stab or burn wounds. According to a 2004 article, the rapist said to one of his victim's that he was from Puerto Rico and was lonely. Investigators put the information out to the latino population in Philadephia and in Puerto Rico. Authorities also said that they believed the rapist had seven brothers or sisters and they may live in Puerto Rico, they did not explain as to how they knew that. The 10-year anniversary of these crimes recently occurred however no new information has been released. Thoughts? Nothing much to add except to say with no known incidents since 2007, it's very possible he may have went back to Puerto Rico.

Probably fled to South America where he has ties or acquaintances, has certainly a fake id and keeps low under the radar.

Glad he got arrested, wonder if he will face death penalty or jail for life sentence.

Glad he got arrested, wonder if he will face death penalty or jail for life sentence. Knowing the Philly DA is opposed to capital punishment, it's likely he'll face LWOP.

And even so, Pennyslvania's death row is almost as slow as California's. I can't remember hearing about anyone getting the needle there lately. He'll probably rot for 3 to 5 decades and die of natural causes, in which case I hope it'll be as rough as what he put all the victims through.

The only three executions that have occurred in PA all involved killers who dropped their appeals so yea, even if the DP was sought here, the chances of it being carried out are next to nil. Let him rot in prison and be forgotten.

The death penalty is a moot point in this case since PA is backlogged even if Diaz were to get it- he'll likely die while waiting anyway- but I do hope Diaz has a miserable existence now and after he's hopefully convicted as well.
