Well, I'm sorry for anyone of your friends that knew her that she's still missing. It's unfortunately a common occurrence and there's been at least 2 or 3 occasions if not more of my friends mass sharing someone they know missing in New York. (Thankfully most had happy endings although sadly one girl did commit suicide).
There doesn't seem to be much talked about in the articles, so all we can do here is hope for the best that Kathy will make it back home.

I'm sorry to hear about the girl committing suicide, but Yes hopefully Kathy can be recovered soon.
I checked on social media at the time this happened last summer and someone I never met pointed it out in a comment that she always hung out with older guys, which was talked about in a not so surprising way.
This site, Amw, The Hunt and law enforcement agencies are usually the only ones reporting it and actively working it since it's the last hope families have regardless of who they are.
the news media and articles don't say much since she is a Hispanic female. Not to bring race into this but you notice the different types of ways they cover a missing persons case like Asha Degree to Amy Bradley or even a fugitive case like Jason Brown to Alexis Flores.
My guessfor the lack of media attention could be that she had voluntarily runaway from home with someone or wanted to meet up with someone and thought she would be recovered soon.
Also many girls in this age range seem to be very vulnerable to be kidnapped for Human/Sex trafficking, Leprinceton Burk's victim was 15 these sick people prefer girls in that age range since they don't know where to turn too.

Yeah I didn't know the girl who killed herself, but I still felt bad for my friends that did and for the girl herself of course. But yeah that's why it's so important to locate Kathy, she could be a victim of something horrible like human trafficking and it's critical to make sure she's safe.

Yeah it's unfortunate when a person kills themselves and it hurts many around them who were her friends, family and support.
Although we don't know the circumstances in her disappearance, I must say Human Traffickers are the ones I have the most anger towards since they are the worst of the worst IMO since they pick up young girls for profit, which is very sick and horrible.
But let's hope Kathy just makes it back home or is recovered safely.

The Justice Network's Washington D.C. affiliate has aired Kathy Periera as a PSA (Public Service Annoucnemt) missing child and her missing information has now been placed on the channel's nationally read website. As a result, I am moving Kathy's thread to the Missing on TV section. www.justicenetworktv.com/besafe/missing/kathy-pereira

Just realized there is a new age-progression photo on the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children's missingkids.org website showing what Kathy may have looked like at age 17 (she would now be 18 as of this posting date- 4/23/2018):

Kathy was mentioned as unfortunately still missing on In Pursuit with John Walsh's Facebook page yesterday (see the show's August 17th, 2019 status updates).
