From mercurynews.com:
PACIFICA -- A manhunt is underway for a man who allegedly shot his pregnant ex-girlfriend in the head early Wednesday, forcing her into an emergency delivery that miraculously ended with mother and baby expected to survive, authorities said.
Ricardo Colindres, a 25-year-old transient, is at large after he reportedly showed up around 8:10 a.m. at a senior-housing complex in the 1000 block of Terra Nova Boulevard where his ex-girlfriend is employed, and shot her in the head, according to Pacifica police.
The victim, a 25-year-old Pacifica resident, was rushed to the hospital, and gave birth to her child. Capt. Joe Spanheimer said the victim and newborn are in stable condition.
Spanheimer confirmed that Colindres and the victim had once dated. He declined to say whether he is the father of her child.
Colindres, described as a Latino man, 5-foot-5 and 125 pounds with brown hair and eyes, was last seen in a silver 2003 Toyota Camry with a California license plate 6CGN644.
"We're actively trying to locate this person," Spanheimer said.
Nearby schools were temporarily locked down while police searched the immediate area.

Thoughts? Unlike so many other of these cases posted about here where a man shoots a woman who is pregnant, we have a rare ending when no one died. Which is a miracle in itself- but it doesn't make Colindres any less dangerous, and he needs to be taken off the streets ASAP.
