In the 1980s, authorities in Yuba County, California say Jose Luis Urbina sexually molested a young boy for several years while working as a Catholic priest. Urbina even pointed a gun at his victim once prior to molesting him. Urbina pled guilty to his charges but fled the United States prior to being sentenced. Several years later, the Dallas Morning News reported that Urbina was serving in Navojoa, Sonora, Mexico as a priest in his local hometown. Urbina who would now be approximately 62-years old, was defrocked by the Catholic Church, but to date has never been arrested despite US officials wanting to start extradition proceedings.

Thoughts? Unlike many cold case fugitive investigations, Jose Luis Urbina's case has gotten plenty of media attention in the US as part of investigations into fugitive priests wanted for child molestation. Capturing a priest in Mexico should theoretically be easier then capturing other fugitive priests who have fled to countries like India and the Philippines. It just seems like there isn't very much to motivate Mexican authorities to arrest Urbina who is still probably near his hometown of Navojoa.
Based on wanted location, it is our advice that anyone with information on the whereabouts of Jose Luis Urbina contact the Yuba County (California) Sheriff's Department: sheriff.co.yuba.ca.us/Contact/contact.aspx
