Wanted by LVMPD for: Attempted Murder with a Deadly Weapon on a Police Officer; and one count of Attempted Murder with a Deadly Weapon.
On Jan. 28, 1997, at approximately 6:44 p.m., a LVMPD patrol officer was involved in a shooting in the 1400 block of East Reno Avenue. The officer was responding to an unrelated disturbance call when he heard gunfire coming from a van parked on Reno Avenue. As the officer turned toward the van, a victim of a gunshot wound fled from the van. The suspect in the van then opened fire on the officer with a semi-automatic handgun. The officer was struck by gunfire but was not seriously injured. The officer was able to return gunfire. The suspect ran from the van on foot and was able to escape. Both the officer and the civilian victim were treated for gunshot wounds at the hospital and released. The female driving the van, Taunna Landers, was located and interviewed. The suspect was identified as Nacho Garcia Hinojosa, AKA Jorge Garcia Hinojosa. He is now 24. He is described as 5' 6", 140 pounds with dark, shoulder-length hair. He has a large tattoo of a bird or an angel on his left upper arm.

Thoughts? Nacho was another fugitive I found on an archived law enforcement website, and being wanted since 1997 along with his last archived webpage being in 2011, I am fairly certain that he is still wanted. Also searches in the Clark County, Nevada court record database do not pull anything up regarding this case, so he has yet to be brought to trial. Very surprised that he was never on AMW, especially since AMW did other stories of attempted cop killers out of Las Vegas such as Manuel Tarango (who was later an indirect capture).
I'm not certain on exactly what Nacho's birthdate was or when he was said to be 24-years of age, but I'm assuming that he was somewhere around 18 in 1997. If that's true that he tried to kill two people, including a police officer at such a young age then who knows what else he's done during his time on the run.
