We probably knew this already, but Florida's abundance of DUI fugitives- and how so many of them are able to become fugitives- now has an article about it. (It also links to the Roman Saldarriaga story that our new forum member Ninja108 brought up). None of the fugitives mentioned in the original article are AMW/Hunt fugitives or fugitives listed here, but it is an interesting read. www.wtsp.com/news/local/florida/report-florida-rife-with-dui-fugitives/73655335

DUI fugitives are most likely among the most likely felons to reoffend again, since chronic alcoholism and intoxicated driving will continue to happen among these people. As we've also seen from fugitives like Michele Comstock, they're more concerned with getting legal aid after causing their crashes then caring about the well-being of their victims. So the amount of DUI fugitives out of Florida is not surprising but still a major concern.

I also think Florida's a big state so of course they're going to have more cases than others. Not to mention, they actually have a highway patrol most wanted website. I think if other states bothered to do the same, we'd see a lot more DUI cases come to light.
Yes, Florida has a problem, but I think they also should be given credit for being one of the few states to actually try to do something about the problem. (Although preventing them from fleeing in the first place would be good too.)

If nothing else, the 15 year max sentence is a LOT more then most states when it comes to this type of crime.
