He is wanted for the shooting death of his estranged wife at a motel in Minnetonka in January, 1977. Smith dresses casually, in work clothing, but is always neat and pressed. His personal work habits are orderly and neat. He is an avid square dancer and bridge player. He has worked as a bus driver, and in sales, and shipping and receiving.

Thoughts? A little backstory here. A few months ago, Scumhunter and I worked on the "AMW Master List" which was a list of pretty much all the fugitives profiled on AMW, submitted by a longtime viewer. At the time, William Smith's name was on the list but we couldn't do a thread on him since we didn't have a picture of him. A few days ago, I was browsing through Late 90's law enforcement websites and came across Smith's profile and posted about him in a stickied thread in the web-exclusive cold case fugitives section. The person who submitted the master list then mentioned that Smith was on the list and that is how this thread came to be made.
As for when William Smith was aired on AMW, I'm not aware of what year although I'm going to guess it was during the mid 90s. Also he would be 91-years old by now so he's most likely since died, however for the memory of his wife whom he killed, his remains should be located so this case can be officially closed. I'm assuming he was never arrested since there are no google news reports on his capture and he has been wanted since 1977, but if anyone reading this has updated information then feel free to send it our way.
UPDATE from site admin: Although in my opinion he is most likely deceased, as far as I can tell he is still technically an at-large fugitive as of this update (7/27/2018). If anyone has any updates/proof-of-updates in the future, they are always more than welcome to let us know.
