MANCHESTER -- A Bedford woman slain six months ago while taking her weekly Sunday night walk in an affluent North End neighborhood was the victim of a drive-by shooting, police said Friday.
Chief Enoch Willard said detectives continue to investigate the death of Denise Robert, 62, a well-known advertising saleswoman who worked for the Union Leader Corp. and its weekly publications for 30 years. She was shot in the head about 9 p.m. on Aug. 30, 2015, on Ray Street, just south of Carpenter.
Willard and investigators do not believe the murder is a random act, but neither he nor Associate Attorney General Jane Young will say what evidence there is to support that. Besides revealing that Roberts was shot from a vehicle, authorities haven't commented on any evidence gathered, including whether police have recovered the bullet, if they know the murder weapon's caliber or if they have a suspect.
“I'm optimistic it will be solved,” said Willard, who was a homicide detective for eight years. “I guess I wouldn't be a good detective if I wasn't hopeful.”
Tom Robert, one of Denise's 11 siblings and the family spokesman, said they are frustrated no one has been charged with Denise's murder, but trust police are conducting a thorough investigation.
The family also is told little, at least when it comes to evidence.
“They guard it jealously,” Robert said.

Thoughts? The article was kind of long, so I truncated it about (news sites usually prefer you don't post the full article anyway, I usually bend the rules a little bit, feeling we can get away with it since we're a message board and not a news site but this was lengthy)- but please do read the rest of the article on the link.
While it's not revealed what they mean by targeted- the following theories were floated around shortly after Denise's murder- a serial killer, gang initiation, or interrupted drug deal. And making this case even more bizarre- an abandoned couch may factor into the case:
"After the Union Leader reported about a couch on a nearby curb before the shooting, police heard from a St. Anselm College student. His father had bought him the couch, but it didn’t fit in the young man’s apartment, so he dumped it in the neighborhood. His father told him to go pick up the couch, and he did. The student saw the police cars down the street and thought nothing of it."
Anyway, I'll post that article and other relevant links below the admin notes. It's a tragic but bizarre case but hopefully it gets solved.
