Authorities are asking the public to them find the killer of an elderly couple found dead earlier this month at a home in northeast Harris County.
The bodies of Don and Reda Rentz were found about 12:30 p.m. March 7 in the couple's home in the 6700 block of Pacific Crest Court in the Kings River subdivision, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies said the couple's children, who live out of town, had been unable to contact the pair for days and asked a neighbor to check on them. The neighbor stopped by the home, but no one answered knocks on the front door and the door appeared to be unlocked. The neighbor called 911.
When deputies arrived, they went inside and discovered the Rentz' bodies. It appeared both Don Rentz, 83, and Reda Rentz, 80, had been beaten and died from traumatic injuries.
So far, investigators have few clues in the case, Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia said Friday during a news conference about the slayings.
Garcia said the killing appears to have occured sometime during the evening on Feb. 26 or early Feb. 27. He said there was no forced entry at the home and the rooms were in disarray as if someone had searched for items to steal. But few other clues have been found.
"Investigators have gotten a few tips," Garcia said, "but nothing that we can really chew on."
The Rentz' daughter, Judith Crane, pleaded with the puiblic to help investigators find her parents' killer. She remembered her parents as giving, caring people. They volunteered in a local ministry to help less advantaged people obtain food and clothes. They had been married 57 years.
"It's inconceivable to me," Crane said, "that someone would want to hurt them."

Thoughts? Apparently initially this was thought to be a robbery but I've read articles where it seemed officials were unsure if anything was even taken. A bunch of drawers opened and items strewn across the house as if the intruder or intruders were looking for something- but I personally have seen many cases like this where that's done on purpose to make the murder look like a robbery. It's hard to imagine anyone purposely wanting to hurt this couple, but unfortunately it's an angle that needs to be looked at as well.
