KALAMAZOO, MI — Six people were dead Saturday night after multiple shootings around Kalamazoo County, and authorities say the person responsible seemed to be shooting "at random."
Four people were shot in vehicles outside the Cracker Barrel on 9th Street in Oshtemo Township. Police say that shooting is tied to another at a Seelye car dealership in Kalamazoo, and another shooting at the Meadows Townhomes complex in Richland Township.
"It appears we have someone driving around and doing nothing but shooting to death innocent people at random," Kalamazoo County Undersheriff Pali Matyas said from the scene at Cracker Barrel.
Matyas said the first shooting occurred at the townhomes complex, 5066 Meadows Blvd. around 6 p.m. There, a woman was shot in the parking lot. Matyas said she is in serious condition.
A second shooting occurred at Seelye Ford, 4102 Stadium Drive, shortly before 10:30 p.m., where two people were shot and killed in the parking lot.
Kalamazoo Public Safety Chief Jeff Hadley told WWMT that the two killed at the dealership were both male, and are believed to be a father and son who were looking at a vehicle.
Around 10:30 p.m., four people were shot and killed in vehicles in the parking lot of Cracker Barrel, 5581 Cracker Barrel Blvd., off of 9th Street in Oshtemo Township. Matyas said one victim in that shooting appears to be a teenager, though he didn't have any more specifics on the victims' genders and ages.
Another victim at that location was shot and injured, police said.
Matyas said police are looking for a white man in his 50s driving a dark blue or silver HHR sport-utility vehicle.
***UPDATE***:Police at 12:30 a.m. confirmed they responded to multiple reports of shots fired at OP and 6th Avenue in Texas Township. No victims were found, police said.

Authorities in Kalamazoo, Michigan have arrested the serial spree shooter and identified him as 45-year old Jason Brian Dalton. Different reports I am reading mention that seven people are dead, including a 14-year old girl who was shot at a Cracker Barrel restaurant. My thoughts are with the people of Kalamazoo, Michigan right now, especially with the families and friends of all the victims. www.cnn.com/2016/02/21/us/michigan-kalamazoo-county-shooting-spree/index.html

When I woke up this morning, after seeing this thread, I tried turning on the news networks for more info. EVERY single one of them was talking about the Republican Primary in South Carolina and Democratic Caucus in Nevada. I realize there's been so many mass shootings lately that networks may be desensitized to reporting them, but it's pretty depressing when early election results take precedence over something like this.
Glad they caught the shooter, not that his arrest makes this any less of a tragedy.

Yeah I was all over this last night, a sad thing to think major news outlets choose politics over a shooting spree. These mass shootings just add to the unnecessary heartbreak of victims family's, their loved ones don't have to die, it's all because of some lunatic with a gun in every incident. and I hope that one day this ridiculous quasi-trend ends soon. This shooter he's in police custody, he will be tried, the victims families will get justice. My prayers go out to the families who lost loved ones.
