From the FBI's website:
"Napoleon Eduardo Castro is wanted for his alleged involvement in the murder of his estranged wife on May 1, 2010, in Pacoima, California. The victim's body was found lying in a pool of blood at the entrance to her garage. She had been stabbed multiple times.
Castro was charged with murder and torture by the Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles, and a state warrant was issued for his arrest on May 5, 2010. A federal arrest warrant was issued by the United States District Court, Central District of California on May 24, 2010, after Castro was charged federally with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution."
Thoughts? A little more info on this case- Castro's victim, Olga Martinez, was 33 years-old and had three children with Castro. (At the time of her death, she had a 17-year old boy, a 15-year old boy, and a 12-year old girl according to articles). It was a volatile relationship and Castro would allegedly constantly stalk Martinez after it ended- calling her at all hours and showing up to where she worked. She had a temporary restraining order at the time of her death.
And this to me highlights the issues with domestic violence. So many times someone will say of a domestic abuse victim "why don't they just leave?" Obviously it's not that simple. Here we have a woman who did leave, who did everything right to get away from that relationship. She filed for divorce, for a restraining order. But that restraining order in reality turned out to just be a piece of paper. It didn't stop Castro from allegedly brutally murdering the mother of his own three children. It's why when people ask what the solution is to deal with stalking (and also domestic violence itself)- I honestly am not exactly sure what to say- except to reach out to domestic violence shelters or find online resources to help with domestic abuse/stalking situations. But it is unfair to have to uproot your life and go into hiding because of something someone did to you. All I can say is search for city, state, and/or online resources to help. But when people ask "why don't they just don't leave?"- perhaps it's because of cases like this where they feel trapped and helpless no matter what.
As far as Castro's whereabouts, he is from El Salvador so that obviously is a possibility. I think the biggest clue may be that according to his FBI profile, Castro has worked in construction. Construction is a very good job if you want to stay on the run because you can get hired off the books. So keep an eye out for this guy in L.A. or elsewhere if you're reading this and are in the construction business.
