Misook has an entire page dedicated to her on Oxygen, yet Bart still sits. They never mention his plea in the beginning that they should investigate her because she is bat now and was bat then. No one would listen to him www.oxygen.com/snapped/season-20/misook-wang

I keep meaning to see the episode on Nowlin but keep getting busy. From what I understand the tv shows on Nowlin do not mention Bart which I feel is a bit unfair.
While I stress this is a discussion forum, this is one of the cases I'm more vocal about and step aside from the admin/moderator role because I truly believe in Bart's innocence and I hope one day they can have a show on ID or another crime show or channel about what I feel is an absolute miscarriage of justice.

Hello America's Most Wanted subscribers! We have an important update on the Barton McNeil case. Scott Reeder of Suspect Convictions, a popular Podcast series, agreed earlier this year to tell the Barton McNeil story in his Season 2 Podcast. He is collaborating with National Public Radio in Bloomington WGLT to produce the podcast with GLT News Director Emeritus Willis Kern. There should be over a dozen episodes, most approximately 30 minutes in length, that will become available on iTunes, Stitcher and Soundcloud each Monday for the next several months. You can also go to www.FreeBart.org and links will be posted here every week. Below is Podcast #1 that just released this past week: wglt.org/post/suspect-convictions-episode-1-frantic-911-calls-reveal-fathers-grief#stream/0I think everyone will find this a riveting current news story that begins with Barton's 9-1-1 phone calls requesting emergency medical help for his daughter. And include his subsequent 9-1-1 phone calls later in the day, after he sees signs that his daughter's bedroom having been broken into. Interestingly, it is he the father, Barton McNeil, himself who demands Bloomington Illinois Police to send a forensic team to return to his apartment the same day his daughter died. Earlier that morning, responding paramedics, the Assistant State's Coroner, police and detectives all thought his 3 year old daughter had died of natural causes as she suffered from an asthma condition. As Scott Reeder and Willis discuss openly on their Podcast, what kind of person that thought they might get away with their child's murder, would be the one then to summon detectives return and not just one, BUT A TEAM OF FORENSIC SPECIALISTS. And Barton when summoning detectives return, knew EXACTLY WHO it was that had to have murdered his daughter..... Misook Nowlin, now serving 55 years for bludgeoning and strangling her mother-in-law to death 12 years after Barton was convicted in a BENCH TRIAL represented by a PUBLIC DEFENDER, in murdering his daughter Christina. A girl Barton loved and adored as any father would have. For Misook however, Barton's attention was focused on Christina as her primary caregiver so Christina in effect had come between her and Misook. Hence Misook having the motive to murder this helpless little girl by smothering her to death while she lay in bed. Misook Nowlin needs to be convicted of this crime and shown to the world to be the Female Serial Killer that she is. Thank you for taking the time to learn more aboue this incredible case.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for posting again and that's awesome that Bart now has a podcast on his case! I hope this helps to get some added publicity for his case, and shed some new light and insights.
While the facts of the case should stand out on their own, unfortunately, it does seem like the only way to truly bring attention on a wrongful conviction oftentimes is if it gets in the public spotlight.
This podcast is a step in the right direction.
Any updates on the updated DNA testing in the case? I believe it was supposed to be completed in 90 days back in March of 2016.

Yes I am pleased to report that there exists some very positive and favorable findings resulting from DNA testing that will be incorporated into the Motion to be filed by his legal team that should occur within the next several months. I am not at liberty to disclose what they are but can assure everyone that Barton now has much that should be considered NEW EVIDENCE and that he absolutely and unequivocally will deserve his 1999 murder conviction being vacated and becoming pardoned let alone having his case retried which would be fool hardy as no jury would convict him as opposed to Misook Nowlin. Yes you are correct in that seemingly thousands of innocents will die in prison before anyone takes a look at their case. Barton is one of the lucky few. The Illinois Innocence Project affiliated with the University of Illinois Law School in Springfield, Illinois, states that they receive over 350 requests for legal assistance from inmates and their families each year but can only take on a handful. They said that an extraordinary many of these requests appear very legitimate. But like all Innocence Projects across the country that number about 100, they are all overtaxed so must select cases very judiciously. Having the media report on the case putting further pressure on State's officials to do the right thing is of equal importance.

I am so glad to hear that there is favorable DNA testing! I understand completely you can't disclose details.
I am as always looking forward to positive updates.

If any supporter of Bart is reading this, just wanted to mention that Bill Amor, a fellow client of the Illinois Innocence Project, recently had a retrial and was acquittted by the presiding judge.
Hopefully this gives some new hope and inspiration that Bart may one day be free as well.

IMPORTANT NEWS FLASH. Since 2017, the Illinois Innocence Project subsequently joined forces with the Chicago based Exoneration Project to represent Barton McNeil in his wrongful conviction case. The former associated with the University of Illinois Law School, the latter with the University of Chicago Law School. They finalized some further investigations, completed the DNA analysis and had medical examiners review the autopsy report. The Motion to free Barton McNeil was filed today in McLean County Courthouse. The motion identifies a host of new evidence to support Bart's claim of wrongful conviction. For anyone interested in following an incredible case and journey to freedom this is it. For further information please visit http://www.FreeBart.org. I will have the full motion posted on the website soon for everyone to see. It is supposedly one of the finest Motions relating to a claim of innocence ever penned by a team of lawyers who all know of Bart's profound innocence juxtaposed by Misook's ultimate guilt in the murder of his 3-year old daughter Christina McNeil. Until Misook is charged and prosecuted for this murder she and her father Barton will not have received justice. McLean County has a real pickle on their hands with this one.

Please let us know when the show is about to air!
So many of these shows are mainly about Misook and while it is important to show her evilness, it's nice to finally have Bart the focus of a national crime show episode as well.

Dear True Crime Fans I have a few encouraging updates regarding my cousin Bart's case that relates to McLean County, Illinois, within the City of Bloomington. On September 25th, at 7 pm, the Oxygen Network will be airing a 2-hour special on Barton's case and how Misook's 2011 strangulation case involving her mother-in-law are related to one another. The show is called "Snapped: Behind Bars". I plan to air this same television show in the Normal Theatre on October 5th to an audience of about 250. I plan to have four panelists along with myself to answer any questions that follow with all of the panelists having been featured in this episode. Panelists will include two reporters, Edith Brady-Lunny and Scott Reeder (who did a 14-part Podcast on Bart's case for National Public Radio in 2018), and private investigators Kevin McClain (who worked directly on Bart's case) and Paul Ciolino who also was featured in the Podcast. If you would like to attend this event or know anybody in the area that might like to attend this event please let me know and will be sure to add you to our invited guest list. The shows premieres on Saturday, September 25th and will be re-aired on the network during the remainder of September and October. And as a much more important update, the judge presiding of the case, Judge William Yoder, made a favorable ruling earlier this month enabling Bart to go the second Stage of the appeals process. A Status hearing is now scheduled for November 12, 2021 at the McLean County Courthouse, Room 5-C located on the 5th Floor. Below is a recent article regarding the judge's decision. This all bodes well for Bart! Please let me know if you have any questions. The following is a Link to National Public Radio WGLT August 27th 2021 news article www.wglt.org/local-news/2021-08-27/judge-allows-bart-mcneil-to-take-next-step-in-quest-for-new-murder-trial?fbclid=IwAR2C_GcEEW0M40U-Iz-D4vzwa0gnBskda-EEr4sBhhPcjzrhFtpYHjdHWlE

Hey Chris,
I only saw a little bit of the airing tonight as I had to leave my house early. I plan on watching the rest over the weekend/this week at first.
So far I haven't gotten up to Bart's case yet but I can already tell what a manipulative and conniving liar Misook is and I think her somewhat broken English helps mask it when it would otherwise be even more obvious.
First she says she didn't shoplift and "accidentally" put some additional clothes in her shopping cart when arrested. Then she allegedly drains Don's checking account out of anger he's too angry and embarrassed to post her bail and her response to that is "I took money out before the shoplifting." You mean the shoplifting you just said you didn't do? Shouldn't it be alleged shoplifting or after I was accused of the shoplifting?
She's not exactly a criminal mastermind either with putting Linda's I.D. and other incriminating evidence in the dumpster right behind her own work place.
But yeah I hope to see the rest of the episode soon and I'll update when I do.
