The crime: Manuel Aguirre, 26, of Goshen, was walking into the 7-Eleven store at Old U.S. 20 and Middleton Run Road Jan. 19, 1999, when someone opened fire from a car. The married father of two died three days later from a gunshot to the head, and a woman in the store was shot in the back. She had to have a kidney removed.
? Since then: Though police quickly identified the car on a surveillance tape as Marquez's car, the case wasn't solved until nearly five years later. An investigator with the prosecutor's office got information about the shooting, and he did some additional work on the case. Prosecutors charged Marquez in 2004 with murder and aggravated battery.

Thoughts? That's all the available information we have to go on in the manhunt for Mariano Sorona-Marquez. If investigators know the motive for Manuel's murder, they haven't publicly released it. The same goes for possible whereabouts for Mariano. The one good sign was that the local Elkhart newspaper mentioned Mariano in an article 12 years later unlike the majority of cold case fugitives in the media.
