From krmg.com:
Larry and Diana Dean hope to get answers about the now 15-year-old abduction and murder of their daughter, and they also hope to help solve other crimes by getting the community involved.
Dena Dean, 16, was last seen on June 6, 1998 at the Town West Shopping Center near I-44 and 49th West Avenue, where she had gone to meet a boyfriend.
She was never seen alive again, and while her body was found six days later, the case remains unsolved.
Each year since, the Deans have held a memorial in her honor at Town West.
The Tulsa County Sheriff's Office has set up a "Cold Case Command Center" to take any tips on the Dean case, as well as any other crime.
Larry Dean tells KRMG if they could help solve even one crime, it would make the effort worthwhile.
"Not just our case, but anybody's case... I hope we find some answers to day," he said.
His wife echoed the sentiment.
"The public needs to get involved -- they don't. They're real bad about 'I don't want to get involved,'" Diana Dean told KRMG. "That's the wrong attitude to take, because it could be your loved one that's assaulted, or murdered, or kidnapped. You don't want to get involved, but then you would want people to come forward if it was your loved one."
Larry Dean says he has a gut feeling that this year, they may finally get a break in the case.
The Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office mobile cold case command post will operate from the hours of 9:00am through 4:00pm Thursday.
It is located at the Family Fellowship Church, located at 5626 West Skelly Drive in Tulsa, at the Town West Shopping Center.
The Sheriff's Office says "The cold case command post has evolved into an annual event specifically established to recognize the unsolved and tragic murder of Dena Dean.
"The Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office is setting up the mobile cold case command post in order to solicit tips on cold cases still being investigated. The Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office is hopeful that anyone with information on any crime, including the Dena Dean murder, will come forward and help investigators with new information.
"This new information may help resolve some of the cold cases and bring justice to the victims and their families.
"The number that has been set up for tips or further information is 918-596-8681."
Thoughts? That article was from two years ago and it's now been 17 years since Dena's murder. Unfortunately there's not a clues to sleuth with besides knowing Dena was leaving to meet her boyfriend. A 2009 article suggests were hoping advances in technology could solve the case, but so far unfortunately they haven't had any luck.
