From the LAPD's Most Wanted website:

"The LAPD is asking for the public's help in locating Roberto Salazar, who is wanted in connection with the murder of Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Juan Escalante on August 8, 2008. As Deputy Escalante was leaving home in the early morning hours, he was approached by a gunman who fired multiple shots at him. The LAPD reports Salazar has clearly shown himself as a violent gang member with no regard to human life."

Thoughts? (Also, for those of you who say innocent until proven guilty, the above is simply a re-posting of what the LAPD's own website said). I looked up more on this case and apparently Salazar was one of four gang members charged with the murder of Escalante. Deputy Escalante was in plain clothes and was mistaken for a rival gang member. Although it's unclear what Salazar's alleged role was in articles, except that he's believed to have participated in Escalante's murder, what is clear that Salazar appears to be the only suspect still at large in this case. He's listed of LAPD's Top 10 Most Wanted gang members, and there is a 2015 article about him.

So while I did a lot of double checking since I'm surprised this was the murder of a Sheriff's Deputy and yet doesn't seem to have had much publicity since 2008, I am fairly confident Salazar's still at large based on my research. If anyone has proof otherwise, feel free to e-mail us. Otherwise, let's get this very dangerous alleged fugitive off the streets.

As of June 9th, 2018, Salazar is still listed on the LAPD most wanted website, which granted is not the most updated website, but enough for me to reasonably assume that he's probably still wanted as of this update. (Most wanted profile link is the same as in the OP).

I just checked the Los Angeles Court Records database for Roberto Salazar. The case is still in "pending" status with no upcoming events since it was issued in 2010. There were however two entries in 2015, one before and after the news article. One was a "bench warrant hearing" in June of 2015 and one was an "arraignment" in September of 2015.

Since the case is in "pending" status, I'm assuming that means that Roberto is still at large. I can't be 100% certain because of the 2015 case entries. Any clarification that could be sent to us via our website contact form would be appreciated.
