CEDAR RAPIDS — A man wanted for a home invasion homicide in Kansas might have ties to Iowa, the U.S. Marshals warned Friday.
Bryan L. Bridges, 20, is wanted for first-degree murder, aggravated burglary and conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery. Authorities said on Oct. 9, 2014, Bridges and others broke into a home in Pittsburg, Kan. Marshals said a resident, Taylor Thomas, was shot during the burglary when he surprised the suspects. Bridges is believed to have been the one who fired the fatal shots.
Bridges’ co-conspirators have been arrested, but he remains at large. He is listed as one of Kansas’ most wanted fugitives.
Authorities said Bridges might have fled Kansas and could have ties to Iowa, Mexico and Denver, Colo. His current whereabouts is unknown.
Bridges is of Laotian and Caucasian descent, but may claim to be Hispanic, authorities said. He is 5’7”, weights 170 pounds, has black hair, brown eyes and has a scar next to his right eye. Authorities said he should be considered armed and dangerous. He goes by El Chinito.
A reward of up to $20,000 is being offered for information leading to Bridges’ arrest. Anyone with information is asked to contact the nearest U.S. Marshals office or the U.S. Marshals Service Communication Center at 1-800-336-0102.
Thoughts? I actually already knew about this case and ironically it was on my upcoming case schedule, but I decided to speed things up and make this a breaking news case today because of the new information that Bridges may be in Iowa. There's also some articles suggesting he could be in the Denver area. As for the victim, Taylor Thomas was a 19-year old student at Pittsburgh State University. He was a junior majoring in mechanical engineering technology. It's really tragic his life was cut short when he appears to be a total innocent. He unfortunately happened upon a robbery of his house. There was a group of four young men who allegedly participated. Taylor was only one guy. If they still wanted to be felons and rob the place, they could have easily just subdued him and didn't have to kill him.
