(Above photo credit: Unsolved Mysteries wikia) Fugitive Profile as of November 30, 2017: (Based on Unsolvled Mysteries website) Gender: Male DOB: 4/16/44 Height: 5’8” Eyes: Blue Hair: Brown Defining Characteristics: Tattoos on his arms and legs and a scar over his left eye Lance Bedgood was first profiled on AMW on January 14, 1990 and a few more times in the 90's. www.imdb.com/title/tt1448816/Bedgood is also a fugitive that has the unique distinction on being on both America's Most Wanted and Unsolved Mysteries. The following is a description of his crime from his Unsolved Wiki Page: "Lance Bedgood is a known Houston area criminal wanted in the murder of Opal Zacharias. On March 6, 1987, 64 year old Houston, Texas resident Opal entered her garage after getting ready for work. Two men attacked her, intending to rob her. A struggle ensued and one of the men shot and killed Opal. Then for some unknown reason, they ran over her body with her own car. One of the suspects was seen fleeing and climbing over the fence, while the other took Opal's car and later abandoned it. Tips soon identified one of the men as 30 year old Dang M. Le, whose fingerprints were found in her garage and on her car; sadly, he was released without being tried for her murder. A year later, more tips led to the identification of the other suspect, the alleged trigg4erman, Lance Bedgood, who is still at large. In 2000, cold case detective Roben Talton was assigned to find Bedgood. She discovered that three of Bedgood's relatives had post office boxes registered to them and paid for by a fourth person, and she believes that he is using them as a mail drop. Roben also believes that his relatives are helping to hide him. Bedgood is 5'8", weighs 140 pounds, has brown hair, blue eyes, tattoos on his arms and legs, a scar below his left eye, and would now be 67 years old. He is considered armed and dangerous and is wanted for the murder of Opal Zacharias." Bedgood would be 71 if still alive today. Anyway, it is rather amazing this man who does not seem all that bright is somehow still at large after 26 years. You can tell by his picture he seems a bit off, plus the rather unprofessional and bizarre way the robbery went awry. It also amazing we have yet to see an age-enhanced photo of him as well. It is rather obvious based on that cold case detective that relatives are helping. Whenever I see a fugitive I don't think seems all that bright manage to stay on the run much longer than expected, I always think they're getting help from a friend, lover, or relative. unsolvedmysteries.wikia.com/wiki/Lance_Bedgoodunsolved.com/archives/lance-bedgoodThoughts? UPDATE: As of July 26th, 2018, Bedgood is listed on the Houston Police Department website as one of their most wanted at-large cold case fugitives: www.houstontx.gov/police/cold_cases/wanted_suspects.htmAdmin Note #1: According to Houston Police Department cold case website, anyone with information on Bedgood's whereabouts should call the Houston P.D.'s Cold Case Squad at 713-308-3618 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS. According to the UM site, Bedgood was born today in 1944, so he'd be 69 today.
Also, I could've sworn I read somewhere that Bedgood's family were spreading the word that he was killed, but they think it was just smoke to help him avoid authorities. But since he's reaching up there in age, who in his family still alive would be willing to help him today?

Not sure but we did think Gary Irving's family might be getting up there in age and it turns out he was caught with family help. Perhaps some who helped him may have passed away, but unfortunately they may have done a good job of helping him to hide with without needing further assistance.

Irving was still relatively young for most of his time on the run. Bedgood is pushing 70. My guess is that whoever was helping him (mother, aunt, etc) has either passed or isn't able to help him as much anymore.
My problem with families hiding fugitives is that out of the entire family, you're telling me there's not one person in the family (brother-in-law, cousin, etc) who objects to it and not only refuses to help the fugitive, but may even submit an anonymous tip? If my wife's family hid a relative accused of a brutal crime, I'd want nothing to do with it.

If a friend or relative of mine is accused of a murder or other type of serious violent crime, I'm turning them in. As much as it would pain me to do so.

I caught the original 1990 AMW airing of Bedgood's case on YouTube. It was actually surprisingly good (in other words, held up well over time and was not as cheesy as some other early re-enactments) and made me angry. Opal seemed like such a great woman to be killed so senselessly. Anyway, there's other cases on the episode but the Bedgood segment starts at around 14:15 and ends at Also, I realize it's from 1990 but I still feel the airing mentioned some things we haven't in this forum: -Full name is Lance Marshall Bedgood. -there may also be a scar above Bedgood's right eye -last confirmed sighting was at a strip club in Atlanta, Georgia in 1988. -Police say Bedgood is a substance abuser- alcohol, marijuana, heroine, and methamphetamine (this really makes me wonder if he's still alive, although the rumors of family helping him out indicate he may be) -We mentioned tattoos on his arms and legs but he has on his chest as well. There's also a large tattoo of a stagecoach being attacked by Indians on his back but police have apparently never photographed it. -Bedgood wears dentures but police say he steals other people's false teeth to change the look of his face. -Bedgood's known to carry 38 caliber and .9 mm handguns. Here is the YouTube segment to the January 14th, 1990 AMW segment. The full episode is great to watch but remember the Bedgood segment starts around 14:15: www.youtube.com/watch?v=9BEvvKHWy-U

I have to wonder if he's still alive at all given all the different drugs he was using.

I believe Bedgood is still alive, but if he is, he’s probably in miserable health from all of the drug use over the years.

Found something interesting. There's a February 26, 1990 article on Newspapers.com from Tampa saying that Lance Bedgood at the time was believed to have either been in West Central Florida or was currently residing there. This was a little over a month after his first AMW profile.
