From the Charley Project:
Ross was last seen at approximately 2:30 a.m. on November 21, 2006 leaving a meeting at the Sheraton hotel in the vicinity of the 300 block of east North Water Street in Chicago, Illinois. He was a sophomore communications major at the University of Missouri at Kansas City at the time of his disappearance, and had traveled to Chicago with other students to participate in a model United Nations program.
Surveillance cameras at the hotel showed Ross walking out of the building. He did not appear to be intoxicated at the time. The walk from that hotel to the one he was staying in was only ten minutes, well-lit and monitored by cameras, but none of the cameras recorded Ross. He has never been heard from again.
Ross was well-liked at college and was known as a driven, enthusiastic young man. He did an unpaid internship at a Kansas City radio station, 95.7 The Vibe, prior to his disappearance and was so successful that he was promoted to a paid position; he was a popular personality on the station's "Shorty and the Boyz" morning show. His radio name was Opie Cunningham. He was not having any personal problems at the time he went missing, and his loved ones are puzzled by his disappearance. There has been no activity on his cellular phone or credit cards since he was last seen. His case remains unsolved.
Thoughts? The reason Jesse is in the missing on tv section is because he has been profiled on AMW and Vanished on the ID channel. An article just came out reflecting that two days ago marked the sad nine-year anniversary of Jesse's disappearance. However, sadly authorities still seem just as baffled today.
Taking Jesse out of the equation, if we hear a young college student vanished around 3 AM, we would either think he either was drunk and may have wound up somehow accidentally hurting himself, was depressed and wanted commit suicide, or was depressed and walked out on life. However, when we put Jesse into the equation, it's said he wasn't depressed and didn't appear drunk.
I took a look at 300 E. North Water Street on Google Maps and it's near a garage near the NBC towers. Obviously, probably a safe place in the day, but an outside garage at 3 am in the morning in a big city is never entirely safe. Sadly, in my opinion, Ross was probably robbed or worse. This is near a garage, so a guy with a gun could have forced him into a car, drove him into a nearby river (or from what I read up, the garage at this location is also near the Navy Pier), and then callously killed him and threw him into the water. I also think it's possible more than one person could have been involved in order to do that and subdue him and/or make sure he didn't try to fight back.
While I know that's a disheartening conclusion, I'm sure the Ross family just wants answers, even if it's a tragic ending, it takes away the not knowing.
