www.reuters.com/article/2015/11/19/us-indiana-fogle-idUSKCN0T81JP20151119Thoughts? I realize everyone is saying he got off easy, but the plea deal called for between 5 1/2-12 years so the Judge giving him 15 years- three more years than what even the Prosecution asked for- is actually surprising to me. This guy is going to jail with everyone knowing him and what he did- it's bad enough for any child molester- let alone an infamous one like him- and will be a registered sex offender when he gets out. Yeah, I agree the guy shouldn't see the light of day again but considering it looked like he wasn't going to get anything less than 12 years, I'm quite pleasantly surprised that the Judge threw the book at him. Technically, he could have gotten anywhere between 5-50 years, but considering he had no priors in addition to an already agreed upon deal, I think it would have been hard for the Judge to justify it legally if she had given him 50 years. (Of course, WE felt it would have been deserved, but it would have set a legal precedent and caused at least a legal controversy considering a plea deal for 5-12 was reached.) So she did the best she could, she gave him a harsh sentence while somewhat respecting the fact a deal was made. Fogle actually tried to blame the Subway diet for making him a pervert (something about the weight loss making him more hyper and sexually active or something like that), so I think he still hasn't learned his lesson yet. I also love that he expressed concerns about who's going to take care of his wife, and the Judge reminded him he gave her 7 million.

I'm afraid of what it'll take before he gets a life sentence down the line. I fear more children will get hurt after his release, and there'll have to be a manhunt for him if he flees next time. They said he hurt about 14 children, making me question whether I should retain some regard for his life, or hope he doesn't survive his prison term to ever see the light of day.

Just wanted to add I wish there wasn't a plea deal in the first place, but I felt the Judge's hands were tied given there was one.
